Master’s Theses

Thesis Preparation:

The duration of thesis preparation must not be shorter than one academic semester. The Master’s Thesis is conducted in accordance with the AUTH Code of Research Ethics. Upon completion of the research phase and in agreement with the supervisor, the student proceeds with writing the thesis. The thesis may be written either in Greek or English. If written in English, an extensive abstract in Greek must be included, describing the methodology and key findings of the work.

The typical length of a Master’s Thesis ranges from 50 to 150 pages, with the original contribution comprising more than 50% of the total.

Evaluation:

Upon completion of the thesis, a Three-Member Examination Committee is formed for its evaluation, with one of the members being the supervisor.

Application for Formation of Three-Member Examination Committee

The evaluation includes both a written assessment and an oral defense of the thesis, presented before the committee at a time and location determined by the MSc program. The presentation is public and announced on the program’s website at least three (3) days in advance. All instructors and students of the program are notified.

Thesis presentations are held three times per year in a dedicated session, within two weeks after the end of the respective examination period (February, June, September). The thesis must be submitted to the committee at least 10 days before the presentation.

Following the defense, a formal report is drafted, indicating each committee member’s grade, the average score, and any comments or observations. The thesis is approved if the final grade is equal to or higher than 6 out of 10. Once approved, the final submission takes place, and the thesis is uploaded to the AUTH Institutional Repository of Scientific Works.
